Las Alpujarras

I live in a historical region of Southern Spain called La Alpujarra ( Alpuxarra ).
The western part of the region lies in the province of Granada and the eastern part in the province of Almería.
This mountainous beautiful region is  one of the most fertile in Andalusia. In winter while picking oranges from the trees I look at the always changing peaks of Sierra Nevada and guess if it is a good day to go to Ski in Granada or should I just take the kids to the beach for lunch.
If you ever want to see the authentic Granada countryside with shepherds, donkeys, legs of ham, tapas and the best olive oil and things like that, than you should plan to come here.
Every season is wonderful here.

This is a poor region when it comes to money but so very rich on natural beauty, kids friendly, very metropolitan and there are so many field trips you can do here. If you wish to go to the Mediterranean sea, it takes only about an half of hour, Granada city is about 45 minutes, ski resort is about an hour away.

Coming to Las Alpujarras and need  a bit of information? The village Orgiva is one of the most metropolitan. You will find people here of all kinds of nationalities and it is a good start of your journey. Here are couple of helpful links:
